Adam Whitney Savage is one of the main hosts on MythBusters, along with Jamie Hyneman, who hired Adam as a co-host because he felt it would make the program more entertaining. Adam is more likely to be excited than Jamie. He pokes fun at Jamie a lot. He collects various unusual curios. There are very few moments when Adam is speechless.
Adam is directly responsible for adding Buster to Mythbusters after purchasing a crash test dummy to stand in for Jamie during the Exploding Toilet Myth. He is eccentric and likes to have much fun while busting, proving the plausibility of myths, or confirming them. Furthermore, for the fans, he is like the uncle of the mythbusters family.
Personality[]
Adam's personality fits his last name, "Savage." He is the source of most of the show's comedy, which is impulsive, easy to excite, and surprisingly clumsy. Tory claims Adam used to work as if a camera crew was always following him, so he is in his element hosting the show. Like Tory, Adam tends to hurt himself on camera, though Jamie sometimes lends a helping hand. He mentions his receding hairline in the earlier episodes but only grows it throughout the series. The times and ways he got hurt include, but are not limited to:
- Getting an eyebrow singed off hours before a date (though not injured)
- Putting his lip in a vacuum cleaner motor
- Getting shot on the same spot on his hand twice and then shot in the nether regions with a makeshift penny gun
- Falling off a treadmill while drunk
- Getting slapped in the face by Jamie
Personal Life[]
He is married to Julia Ward and has twin sons. He lives in San Francisco, California. Adam openly admits he and Jamie are not friends. They have never had dinner alone in the decades they have known each other. However, they respected each other's work ethics, proving you do not have to get along with someone to respect them.
